Muslim countries following the Islamic religion also practice black magic. The Islamic religion is not so old but is widely spread worldwide, from Indian Muslims to Bangladeshi Muslims, Bihari Muslims, and Muslims in Arabic countries. We can find people following the Islamic religion all around the globe, and hence, black magic is practiced differently within this community.
The practice of black magic also differs between countries. I will try to cover the different types of Islamic black magic used or practiced worldwide. Most black magic is practiced in Arabic or Asian countries, where the Muslim population is dense compared to other parts of the world.
Utilizing Talismans and Quranic Verses in Islamic Black Magic Practices
One observation seen in practicing black magic in Islamic countries is using it to harm an opponent. However, black magic is also used for healing, lifting the curse, relieving pain, or the so-called love and charm effects to lure someone or get an ex back. It has also been observed that talismans, water from the mosque (also known as holy water), and the enchanting of verses from the holy book ‘QURAN’ are practiced.
The truth – also written in QURAN, says that those who practice black magic are committing sin and that one should not hamper their friends, neighbors, siblings, or any other family members. Still, since Muslims are very orthodox people skeptical about many things and are superstitious, the practice of black magic prevails in Islamic countries to a great extent.
People like ‘pir baba’ and ‘fakir’ exist, who would claim to be ALLAH’s people and that they have the power to cast black magic spells, take in the confidence of such superstitious Muslims and ask for the heavy amount to get them rid of curses, or help them become rich or healthy. It is believed that people in their own families are more likely to attack family members with black magic spells than outsiders. Jealousy and hatred are some of the main reasons Muslims practice black magic.
Legal Prohibitions and the Persistence of Witchcraft Practices
In most Islamic and Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, the practice of witchcraft is banned, and anyone found practicing black magic is sentenced to death or life imprisonment. Despite tight laws in Middle Eastern countries or Gulf countries still, the practice of sorcery exists.
Another reason Islamic countries or Muslims practice black magic is the illiteracy count. Since many Muslims are illiterate and refugees, they do not even understand their holy book reading and fall into the trap of fake sorcerers, who are always hunting for such victims to earn money. This kind of spell casters would pretend that they can capture and then help the victim to acquire or get the result of any of his / her desires, which the practitioner would perform.
Islamic Sorcery and Black Magic in Muslim Countries
In some Islamic black magic practices, you would also find the use of QURAN, which prohibits using black magic. For example, Istikhara is a kind of Islamic black magic where the person has to visit a Moulana (Holy Priest) who would recite verses of QURAN (verse 6:59), then offer salam (greetings) to Prophet Muhammad, turn his face towards the sky, answer questions asked by the person or candidate, and provide the person with remedies as well.
Another widely used black magic in Muslim countries is the SURA YA SIN. The believer reads sura, and as per need, different sura represents different requirements. For example, sura 48 is read for victory, sura 114 is read for humankind, and sura 72 is read for capturing or taking help from jinn and spirits. It is also believed that a person can write these suras (as and when required) on a piece of paper, wear it by putting it in an amulet or talisman, or wash the paper with water and drink it.
In some Islamic or Muslim countries, sorcerers practicing black magic are also known as saahir. It is believed that they practice Islamic black magic known as sihr.
